DRSS Takes 3rd At Ohio Destination Imagination 2016 Comp
On March 12, 2016, three teams from DRSS took their hard work and creativity to the 2016 Ohio Destination Imagination competition. Teams started brainstorming and working on their ideas in August, and their determination finally paid off in March, at this competition. At the competition, the teams went to an empty space, where they set down all their props and practiced. At a certain time, they had to check in with their judges, and say a little about their invention to make sure it was qualified.
Once the team and the invention were registered and ready to go, the team had time to practice back at their space. Once they performed, they were asked questions by the judges, until they were allowed to go back to the space. There, they ate lunch and relaxed until their “Instant Challenge,” a challenge that that were very quickly informed about. After the Instant Challenge, the teams were allowed to relax, go outside, and work on other projects until the Awards Ceremony, at 6:00pm.
Team Fluffy, which consisted of Quinton Elrod, Alex Arehart, Jaidan Washington, Alese Taylor, Ryan McNeill, and Chloe Lutz, competed in the Science division challenge, In Plain Sight. The Brunch Clique, which consisted of Keri Cindric, Chloe Swem, Aidan Kessin, Anya Broyles, Clare Ashcraft, A.J. Uzeta, and Kyra Stahl, competed in the Structural division challenge, Musical Mashup. And finally, The Speedy Sloths, which consisted of Courtney Dehart, Emily Sword, Surabhi Pasupuhleti, Alivia Hartpence, Apurva Makote, and Aidan Owens, competed in the Fine Arts division challenge, Get A Clue. All three teams did an exceptional job, and at the awards ceremony, Team Fluffy won third in the Science challenge division, and The Brunch Clique won third in the Structural challenge division. As the exciting night came to a close, DRSS’s DI teams discussed how they could continue to make the school proud again next year.
