Summer Challenge of 2017

As summer is fast approaching, this article will be about things to do while you’re off of school. Since everyone seems to love not being in school, it would be nice to make plans to do something while not having classes to worry about. The juniors have made a list of potential activities that people could participate in during the summer time.

1. Meeting a new friend

The summer time is great way to break outside of your comfort zone. By trying new things and meeting new people, you might end of making new friends.

2. Go to the beach

Summer weather is really nice and warm. The beaches are a great because of the sand, shores, and opportunities to swim. However, please don’t get into trouble while playing around on the beach.

3. Take a road trip with a friend

During the summer break, many people travel or take vacations. Maybe plan a weekend trip with your friend to go visit a place you haven’t seen in a while.

4. Do something that scares you

Okay. Don’t do anything dangerous, but try doing something that builds your confidence or challenges you.

5. Go to Fetch (the store) and touch puppy

Animals are so fun to play with during the summer time. If you want to see cute animals especially doggies, go to the park.

6. Meet up with 10 people from school at one time

Of course school is when people see their friends most often, plan to do something outside of school during the summer time.

7. Finish an entire season of any given show in 24 hours

Basically, binge on Netflix or Hulu until you finish the show.

8. Go night swimming

Don’t do this illegally. Find somewhere that will allow you to swim at night.

9. See a play

If you are not a big fan of theatre, try to find a play that seems to be interesting or read reviews of the play before you go.

10. Read one book in 24 hours

The library is always a fun place to go during the summer. I know, reading is not the most fun activity to do, but it does take you to different destinations outside of your reality.

11. Try a different food

You never know, you might end up liking it.

12. Climb a tree

Do this activity at your own risk. If you are not very athletic, try a smaller tree.

13. Rock climb

There are places around the Dayton area where this activity is available. Unfortunately, I don’t know the specific names.

14. Learn a new talent

This could be whatever you want. You could learn how to Samba, Zumba, or even play a musical instrument (playing the triangle does count). The summer of 2017 is what you make it.

15. Take a selfie on a rollercoaster

Do this at your own risk. No one is forcing you to do anything.

16. Leave the country

If you do this, please come back.

17. Start a blog

Journaling is a fun activity especially if you like writing. Blogs are very diverse, so you could act like it is a public journal. On the other hand, you could have a blog entirely shaped by pictures.

18. See two movies back-to-back at the movie theater

You still have to pay for both movies.

Overall, the summer of 2017 is what you make it. Have a great time breaking out of your comfort shells and remember be safe and be you. –Chloe
