Devin Wade: The Best Person Alive
Who is Devin Wade? Devin is a junior at the Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS)—a school in which he has attended since 7th grade. He currently participates in multiple extracurricular activities. Some of the extracurricular activities he participates in are: Key Club, Yearbook, FTC Robotics, Boy Scouts, National Honor Society, and the Junior Council on World Affairs (JCOWA).
Since this is Devin’s fifth year at DRSS, I decided to ask him what his favorite aspect about the school is. “I like the people in my class that I speak to on a regular basis,” said Devin, “That is something that is very important with a small class size.” With there being around 600 total students in the school and only about 80 juniors, Devin is right—getting along with classmates is extremely important with such a small class size.
Devin is also well liked amongst his peers. Anjali Phadke, a classmate of Devin’s, said “Devin is sincerely one of the kindest individuals I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He gives his friends jackets if they are cold or even switches shoes with them if they need them for a Chemistry lab. Devin is one of those people that brightens up your day no matter what. He’s incredibly intelligent and knows information that no one else would even think of studying. His jokes are funny, and I am so thankful to call him one of my best friends.”
When asked what his favorite subject was for the year, he couldn’t decide between Government or Economics class, since they were both a semester long. “I found both of their topics interesting,” Devin answered when asked what his favorite parts of the classes were.
Devin is also very good at photography. He takes pictures wherever he goes, whether that be Florida or China. To see some of these photos, go to his digital portfolio at wade63.wix.com/myportfolio.
Even though he doesn’t know completely where he wants to go to college yet, he is still actively looking. He has a spreadsheet of every college near Dayton and outside Devin that have the most majors in line with what he thinks are courses he would like.
Overall, Devin has a kind heart, and a good head on his shoulders. Whatever may happen to him in the future, he will have his intelligence and great friends to get him by.
