2016 Speak Be Heard Be Considered High School Poetry Slam

This Thursday, April 28th, three seniors at our school will be preforming poems in a community wide poetry slam. These students, Tyson Reed, Maggie Moreda, and Alex T. Smith, will each preform an original poem on the topic of gun violence. The purpose of this poetry slam, is to allow young adults to speak out about their opinions on gun violence in the hopes that they would be heard by the community, so that they can work together to make a more peace centered society. Our student representatives will be competing at Victoria Theater at 6 pm against students from other various local high schools. The winning students will win a scholarship package to Sinclair Community College, and monetary awards in the upwards of $250. Let's sure to wish them luck and cheer them on as they represent our school in this unique community wide event.
