Society vs. the Feminists

Feminist. A label that is put on anybody who believes that females should have the same equal rights as males. It has been a battle for women to get the same rights as men since the early 1800s, and still till this day. Women have been fighting for so much and for so long. Voting rights, equal pay, abortion and much more. There have been a lot of improvement in what women can and can’t do, or can and can’t wear. An example of the improvement of women’s rights is the voting rights in America. After a long period of time of women suffrage, it officially ended on August 18, 1920, and written in the 19th amendment. Because of the 19th amendment, any women of any race or religion can vote for who they want to rule their country.

Till this day, women are still fighting for equal rights. The biggest battle that women are fighting for is equal pay. Many women have been working so hard every weekday to make money to provide for their family. Some women probably work harder than men but still receive a smaller paycheck than sitting the man right next to her. By feminist fighting for equal pay, their wages are increasing at a small pace to reach the same amount as men. It's a small improvement but the goal for equality is getting closer.

Here’s a question, though, why is it taking so long for women equality to be a thing? Maybe it’s society. Women haven’t been equal or been able to live the free privilege life as a man since the beginning of time; unless the woman lived in a wealthy lifestyle. If she didn’t live a wealthy lifestyle then she must fight for her equal rights, and sometimes that not the case. Depending on the time period or country, women must sit there quietly and let her husband control her. That’s how it was then, and still how it is now; with a little wiggle room. Many young women are fighting for their rights because they want to be equal as men. Many young women believe that they are no different as a man. They feel like they can do anything a man can do. Places like America and the free countries in Europe gives women the freedom to fight for their rights. Many women mostly fight for abortion rights and equal pay. In the Middle East, many young women try to fight for their equal rights. Women in the Middle East are treated a little worse than in America. They can’t leave the house without a man beside her, or work without guardian consent. Those are a few of the many rules a woman must follow in the Middle East. Countries like the many in Africa, Asia or some in Europe follow the same guidelines as the Middle East. Some are worse while other are the same or minor.

Women haven’t given up yet, though. They are still fighting for their rights, no matter how much negative criticism they get. They ignore the negativity hit at them. They run off of that positive, motivational attitude. Women all over the world; no matter what the race is, may not get full equality in the near future, but feminist will continue to fight, just like the other communities that are fighting for full equality.
