Ted Cruz, We Probably Won’t Miss You

On May 3, Ted Cruz, the Congressman named “Lucifer in the flesh” by former speaker of the house John Boehner, dropped out of the 2016 presidential election. He decided to end his run after finishing several points behind Donald J. Trump in the Indiana primary, knowing that there was no way he could get the Republican nomination. Many people who knew Ted Cruz were disappointed, especially his wife, Heidi. On the stage after Cruz announced his campaign suspension, she tried to join in a hug between her husband and his father, and ended up getting elbowed in the face. Overall, it was not a shining moment for the Cruz family.

One week later, Heidi Cruz was back and ready to say horrible things that had no real relevancy to her situation: “I don’t want you to feel like any of this was in vain. I believe in the power of prayer. This doesn’t always happen on the timing of man, and God does not work in four-year segments. Be full of faith and so full of joy that this team was chosen to fight a long battle. Think that slavery — it took 25 years to defeat slavery. That is a lot longer than four years.” Of course, she’s not wrong: twenty-five years is a lot longer than four years.
