Too Shy
Q: I'm having trouble confronting my friend because it's hard for me to speak up for myself, you could say I'm...shy. She has been mean to me and I don't know how I can tell her that she is being mean to me. I read what you gave to Friend Troubles but it does really help me. Thanks for helping me out. - Too Shy
A: Dear Too Shy, while I can understand not wanting to confront your friend, I think it’s the best way to handle this situation. I know that having friends is a great feeling, but if they’ve changed, and are making you feel sad, then they’re not being a good friend. If you feel like you can’t confess to her personally (like talking to her), maybe you can send her an email telling her how you feel. Even though it’s still confronting her, it’s an easier way. Maybe after realizing that some of the things she says or does to you make you feel upset, she’ll stop. Speaking up isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s the best way to make a problem stop. I’m wishing you the best of luck, Too Shy!
