The Power of Power Lunches

It’s time to power up for a power lunch! Recently at the Dayton Regional STEM School, Bobak Ferdowsi, a system engineer at NASA, came and ate lunch with about sixty of our fellow students. He told them about the projects he did in NASA such as how he landed a rover on Mars and his experience as an employee for NASA, like getting to work with his coworkers. He also told them about his everyday life. He even answered questions that the students asked.

These power lunches are a great opportunity that students get to have at STEM. The power lunches give students time to learn about subjects that they are interested in but have fun in the process. And, bonus, you get to hear about it from the professionals! Without these lunches, students would not have a chance to learn about new things. They might even start studying it in school. Even though, they might not have even been interested in studying in the first place!

Alyssa Jackson, a high schooler who attended the power lunch states, "He inspires me. I liked his job and how he worked on the rover. It kind of makes me want to do it too,” after listening to Bobak Ferdowsi's power lunch. These power lunches, like the NASA one, give students a chance to talk about what they love, with people who love it as well, like Bobak Ferdowsi.

"A very educational experience,” proclaims Mackenzie Howard, a middle schooler who participated in the power lunch. These power lunches are packed full with information. So when the next power lunch rounds the corner, get ready for the experience of a life time!
