The 45th President of the United States of America
We as a nation have endured watching multiple presidential campaigns fighting with each other for the nomination. Out of six Democratic candidates and 17 Republican candidates’ two candidates emerged as the nominees of their respective parties. This presidential election was hard fought and emotional but it finally came to an end in the last hours of November 9 when the winner was declared.
On November 8th, everyone held their breath while casting their votes and trying to sneak peek at other’s ballots to see if their candidate was being supported. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump had done intense last minute campaigning trying to persuade undecided voters in multiple states. The two candidates had very different messages. One showing a positive environment that would continue if she became president to one promising people that he would change how Washington works completely to “Make America Great Again”. Then they had to wait for the votes to be tallied, the most agonizing part of the entire campaign before the 45th president of the United States of America could be decided.
Every last ballot was counted and the people had decided. Donald John Trump has become the President Elect. This was historic because Donald Trump is the first president to not have had any previous political experience or military experience. He was an outsider and when people saw him announce he was running for the office of president, some saw it as a joke. He worked tirelessly, climbing up in the polls, to become the Republican Party’s nominee. He continued to spread his message and on November 8th citizens voted for Trump, trusting him to bring honor to our great nation.
President Trump overcame several challenges while running an unconventional campaign, breaking all the “traditional” stereotypes. Many criticized him for his ideas and values but he was able to appeal to a sizable fraction of American people, winning him enough electoral votes to win the presidency. He won a total of 28 states.
As Trump will be inaugurated on January 20th, 2016, he will take office and lead our nation. Trump will face responsibilities and issues on various topics such as appointing a new Supreme Court justice to replace late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat, to improving economy to dealing with terrorism. Another issue that has arisen from this election is healing of the nation because of the deep divide that we saw during the campaign. America has never felt more divided along the party lines. President Trump will now have to unite our nation, to show that he will work with both Republicans and Democrats, and with people of different opinions, to “Make America Great Again!”
So Mr. President, congratulations and welcome to the White House.
