University of Dayton Women’s Basketball Team Falls Short in the First Game

The official basketball season begins for the UD Flyers Women’s Basketball team as they took on the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The Flyers started off strong in their first exhibition game against Grand Valley State, 74 vs. 48. However, this past Sunday was their first official game of the season. Sadly falling short of just three points. With a new head coach, the team seemed ready to face the Bobcats. Their previous head coach retired because of a health condition, and the new women’s coach was the previous assistant coach, Shauna Green.

In the beginning of the game, the Flyers started with strong offense and defense but ended the first quarter ahead by only two points. For this game, it was all about turnovers. Quinnipiac received 26 points on turnovers, and the Flyers were only able to get 12 points on turnovers. However, the Flyers made 14 points from three point shots. The season was off to a good start and improvement will be made. Hopefully, the UD Women Flyers can pull through this season and make it to the NCAA tournament again.
