Spring Breaks Around the World

You may think that the USA is the only country that has spring break, but this is not true. Other countries like Japan, Russia, Spain, Jamaica, Columbia and many more have spring break as well. In Japan, spring break typically starts at the end of the school year and ends at the beginning of the next school year. In most European countries, spring break is referred to as Easter Break since it is around Easter time. Easter is a religious holiday celebrated by Christians, Catholics, etc. Columbia is a little different from some of these countries. In this country, if a school has more snow days, it will have less days for spring break and vice versa. Usually, it lasts about a week.

The US is no different from these countries. Some people argued that spring break should be similar to the one in the UK where it is during Easter. But others have stated that spring break is perfect the way it is now because it not too far away from winter break or summer break. All in all, different countries have spring break for different purposes, during different times of the year, and have different names.
